The Grant
Our mission is to make homeownership achievable. If you’re a first-time Black woman homebuyer working with a Her First Place Realtor, apply below for down payment or closing cost assistance.
The Requirements
Are you a Black woman buying property for the first time?
Are you using an experienced, qualified Realtor referred by Her First Place Inc.?
Is the home you’re purchasing in your legal name, and will be your primary residence?
Will the home you’re purchasing close within 90 days of the date your application is approved?
The grant must go toward closing costs, down payment assistance, or to buy down the interest rate.
A copy of the settlement statement must be sent to the Foundation by your title or closing company before closing.
The gift is for the purchase of a single-family home, condo, townhome, a lot to build a home, a multi-family home, or new construction, to be used as your primary home or an investment property that you will live in (such as a multi-family home).
We would love it if you could send us a testimonial and a photo of you standing outside your new home after closing.
The Application
Buying your first home is a major milestone — and you don’t have to do it alone. Our grant program was created to provide financial support for first-time Black women homebuyers who meet our eligibility requirements. Whether you need help with closing costs, down payment assistance, or buying down your interest rate, we are here to help bridge the gap.
When you apply, your information is kept confidential and reviewed with care. Our team evaluates every application individually to ensure the funds are used where they make the biggest impact. The application is quick, easy, and takes only a few minutes to complete. Once your application is submitted, a member of our team will follow up with the next steps.
The Referral
Connect With a Trusted Realtor
One of the biggest advantages of partnering with Her First Place is having access to a network of experienced, qualified agents across the country. These agents understand the unique needs of first-time Black women homebuyers and are committed to guiding you with patience, knowledge, and excellence.
When you begin your homebuying journey with us, we introduce you to the best agent in your area — someone who will advocate for you, protect your interests, and help you confidently navigate the process from start to closing.
How the Referral Support Works
To keep the program sustainable — and to help as many women as possible — Her First Place receives a referral fee when a buyer closes with one of our recommended agents.
Here’s the part we’re most proud of:
Half of the referral fee goes directly back to you, the buyer, to support your closing costs or other approved homebuying expenses.
The other half goes to the Foundation, helping another woman move closer to owning her first home.
It’s a cycle of support that keeps giving — from one woman to the next.
